Story: Dr. Robotnik has found the root of his problem when it comes to dealing with Sonic; he just runs way too fast. So late one night Dr. Robotnik designs a replica of Sonic’s shoes, dubbed the Speed Down Boots, which evidently makes Sonic run a lot slower. Okay so they’re orange, but the evil Dr. Robotnik knows Sonic can’t tell the difference in the morning, and replaces Sonic’s trademark red sneakers with the Slow Down Boots.

The next day Sonic wakes up to see how he will spend his day, since Tails is on vacation, and then slips on his shoes only to realize they weren’t his shoes! Dr. Robotnik laughs and then runs off to finish construction on Eggmanland. Since Sonic can take the shoes off himself, he has to use the powers of the Chaos Emeralds to remove them.

Unfortunately for Sonic, Dr. Robotnik hid the Chaos Emeralds in his great labyrinth. Fortunately for Sonic, he can still use his spin dash to put an end to Dr. Robotnik’s evil deeds.


Level Select
At the title screen, after “Sonic Labyrinth” appears on screen, enter the following sequences Up, Up, Right, Right, Right, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, and Left, Left, Left, Left, Left, Left, Left, Left, Left, and then press the start button. The word “Select” should appear. Now go down and select the Options Menu. Where there once was a sound test, there is now a level select.


Secret Level
Go into the cannon on level 2-3, and press button 1, button 2, and RIGHT all at the same time. Now flip the switch to open the door, and go through the door to a secret level.
