Story: Surprisingly there was no story in the manual for the game. I guess it was just too obvious that it was basically Sonic the Hedgehog 2 remixed for the Neo Geo Pocket Color.


Select Level
To gain access of all the previous levels you’ve passed, press Option at the SEGA logo.


Sound Test
You unlock this feature when you collect all seven Chaos Emeralds before you complete the game, to gain access to the Sound Test Menu. It will be displayed under the Option menu.

Bonus Level
Each time you complete an Act, make sure you have at least 50 gold rings.

Special Stage Option
You must collect all 96 puzzle pieces, and assemble six pictures in the puzzle room. The special stage option will be available under the Option menu.

Dr. Robotnik’s Chaos Emerald
During the battle with Dr. Robotnik in Last Utopia, level 13, you must hit Dr. Robotnik seven times. Now once that’s out of the way hit the Chaos Emerald, which is on his back, twice to retrieve this Chaos Emerald.

Chaotic Space Bonus Level
To get the bonus level you must first collect all seven Chaos Emeralds, before you defeat Dr. Robotnik in level 13, to gain access to the Chaotic Space bonus level. Here Sonic will change into super Sonic and battle Dr. Robotnik one last time.
