A few minor updates before the New Year, the image holds no real significance. It's just something that was made up on a whim so don't think too hard about it.

The development teams from PlatinumGames (MADWORLD) and High Voltage Software (The Conduit) will be there to answer any questions.

We've also been informed that there will be some special zombie surprises, and both Kellie and Aaron from the Sega of America Community Team will be taking tons of photos and videos, while updating the blog live at Comic Con.

Planetary Pieces and Japan's Release Date

SEGA of Japan has finally revealed that the release date for Sonic World Adventure for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 will be on February 19th, 2008; a ridiculously long delay for a game that isn't going to see any quality improvement. For your reference, a previous post on the game's website:

"The difference in the international release dates is based on the sales strategy and the manufacturing schedule. There will be no quality difference between the North American/European/Asia release and the Japanese version. Please be assured we are doing our best to deliver a top quality experience to people all over the globe."

On the bright side, the game's sound track, Planetary Pieces, will be released before the game hits Japan, on January 28th, 2009. Planetary Pieces will have a total of 91 tracks on three CDs, featuring the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and Jarett Riddick, member of the pop punk rock group Bowling for Soup. Over 100 musicians participated in the making of this album; and genres include world, rock, jazz, symphonic, and techno. Asking Price? ¥4,200 or $45.30.
A boat load of new stuff have been added to the site, along with a better quality Sonic: Night of the Werehog clip. Both sound and video are clearer, with a little sacrifice to the file size that SEGA set for the video on their site.

54.72% (675)

23.41% (289)

Amy - Piko Piko Hammer

6.91% (86)

Knuckles - Hyper Knuckles

5.77% (71)

4.47% (55)

The results of the latest poll reveal that the Sonic in Hyper formation would crush the competition hands down. Sadly, though with every great victory there is a terrible defeat. Tails came in last place, right after the Doctor's pure romanticism. Better luck next time!

Crush 40 - Live & Learn

Ali Tabatabaee & Matty Lewis - HIS WORLD ~THEME OF SONIC THE HEDGEHOG~

Japanese Geroinic Band & Symphony - His World (Instrumental)

Steve Conte & Runblebee - SEVEN RINGS IN HAND

Maeda, Mitsuyoshi, Sawada, Ioszaki - Sonic 3 MegaD Mix

A classic title tops the charts on Sonic Billboard. "Live & Learn" cleared the winning circle for first place, with an astounding 16 vote lead. Followed by a small array of "His World" titles, from, the current console generation, SONIC the Hedgehog for second and third place. Remember there are no ties for Sonic Billboard, so tracks that do tie in votes are placed in alphabetical order. The polls will reopen later tonight after I add Sonic Chronicles and Sonic Unleashed to the list.

SEGA Podcast

Looks like SEGA has started their very own podcast that will consist of "interviews, game info, and more from the community teams at SEGA." Their first podcast is an interview with Patrick Riley, the Sega of America producer of the newly released Sonic Unleashed game. Riley is pressed with a series of questions from SEGA’s online community: Clumsyorchid, ArchangelUK, Martin, and RubyEclipse and shares his favorite moments from the game. The podcast is 15 minutes and consists of no spoilers. SEGA of America’s community team is looking for comments on their first podcast, so I’ll be providing a link to the blog and where the podcast is being hosted.

EDIT: It looks like both community teams are looking for feedback so I'm adding the link to SEGA of Europe's Blog Article.

Sonic Unleashed Confusion

While Sonic Unleashed, in North America, for the PlayStation 2 and the Nintendo Wii has already been released; there is confusion amongst retail stores for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. Although stores like GameStop and EB Games have the Xbox 360 version of Sonic Unleashed in stock, some are more willing than others to relinquish the game to customers. To help those who are still confused over the release dates I'll list them for you.

Release Dates

Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 2
November 18th, 2008

Microsoft Xbox 360
November 24, 2008

Sony PlayStation 3
December 12, 2008

There are some retail stores like Best Buy and a few GameStops that are willing to release the Xbox 360 version tomorrow, so it's best to make a few phone calls before setting off on your journey.

While Sonic Unleashed appears to be releasing in eight days for North America, the game for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 has been delayed until possibly the spring of 2009 for Japan. According to Sonic Channel's staff member Moro, "in order to enrich the content and software quality [of the game]...," the original retail schedule of December 18th, 2008 has been postponed and a confirmed released date for the Xbox 360 and PS3 is unknown at the moment. As for the Wii edition, there won't be any modifications and will release on time (December 18th, 2008).

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection

Today SEGA announced their largest first party collection pack for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 Entertainment System to date. Relive SEGA's 16-bit and 8-bit golden years in an enhanced experience (for me 1080i is Hi-Def not 720p) for a retail price of $29.95. This collection will include over 40 favorite titles, with offline multiplayer options, that will surly bring back memories. Just like many of SEGA's collection titles, there will be unlockable content giving you the chance to earn achievements (Xbox 360) or trophies (PS3) while unlocking arcade games and interviews with the original game developers. Expected release date for Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection is set for the first quarter of 2009...

All those "Epic" and "Special Chocolate Sundae" videos on Youtube.com that leaked the opening scenes of Sonic Unleashed has inspired us to finally brush up our layout design with something a little more classy. Just like our newly appointed "Werehog," you will notice the site change when the sun has set, and will revert back to its new day time layout when the sun has risen. I could add a cheesy storyline about the site was bitten by a random blue beast to tie in with Sonic Unleashed but I won't. Those who are impatient to see what the layout will look like when it transforms later tonight, simply adjust your clock; as for what time? I won't say exactly, but I have given you a clue in this update.

Sonic Billboard is now online. You can now vote for all your favorite recent tracks, except for Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Chronicles, and Sonic and the Black Knight. Those tracks will be available for voting in December. The site is also almost completely up to date, except for the rips for Sonic Unleashed and Sonic and the Black Knight, and the music sections for Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Chronicles, and Sonic and the Black Knight. Simply look for 10-31-08 in the artwork, wallpaper, videos, or other media sections for the newly added media.

In other news SEGA of America released a few new videos for Sonic Unleashed on Halloween, along with a preview for the online movie Sonic Night of the Werehog. We"ll be sure to keep you updated when the full movie has been releases later in November.
